“Critics say the generation of 1980 and 1990s are sweet but tainted. Basically I am a typical girl from the 90s generation and am like most others of my generation, reserved, sensitive, yet easily affected by emotion. In my work I combine experiences into fleeting moments captured through a lens and frozen into the image. By way of improvisation with characters and props I am able to explore the inner psychological world of humans.
For me, my recent series “Yi” comprises five images that can be viewed as a story or on their own. The photos elicit a feminine quality that invades, paralyzes and brings the viewer inside the appropriated setting. Emotionally detached from my photo-stories, I attempt to probe into the unexplained relationships of fictional characters. Inspired by classical black and white film, she appreciates a simple composition that dramatizes its plot to attract viewers.
